Sift the flour and cornstarch into a pan. Add the milk, a little at a time, until the mixture is smooth, and then place on the heat. Stir constantly until the mixture thickens. Remove from the heat but add the butter, cut into little pieces, while the mixture is still warm, and stir well. Leave to cool. Then beat the custard for a few minutes with an electric whisk, and then gently stir in the cream, a little at a time. Separate the custard into two parts. Add the amarena syrup to one part, and leave the other plain. Then I made the shot glass desserts with alternate layers of amarena custard and plain custard, topped off with a few drops of amarena syrup and some whole amarenas for decoration. Leave in the refrigerator for a few hours, and then enjoy! I’m a huge fan of amarenas, but this dessert is truly delicious.
